Christ sits at the top center, flanked by groups of saints and apostles seated on benches, including Saint Peter holding keys. Below them, two large angels dominate the composition; each holds a long scroll inscribed with judgment, gesturing toward groups of the resurrected. On the bottom level, individuals emerge from sarcophagi or coffins, with some figures on the right being pulled away by dark, skeletal-like demonic entities, contrasting with the orderly saints above. The scene is framed by a border and utilizes a flat, rhythmic Ottonian style with heavy ink outlines and muted earth tones.

This illumination is a central component of the Bamberg Apocalypse, an Ottonian manuscript commissioned by the imperial court of Otto III or Henry II, reflecting the apocalyptic anxieties and imperial theology of the late 10th and early 11th centuries.
