Christ in Majesty with the Twenty-Four Elders

Christ sits at the center within a blue almond-shaped mandorla, his right hand raised in benediction and his left holding a scroll; he is surrounded by the winged symbols of the four evangelists: a man, a lion, an ox, and an eagle. Below the mandorla, two groups of bearded elders wearing crowns and long tunics stand in rows, each holding a tall, flaming vessel. At the very bottom center, a stylized face emerges from a cloud-like form. The background is rendered in gold leaf, typical of Ottonian manuscript illumination.

This illumination represents the vision of the Apocalypse as described in the Book of Revelation (Rev. 4:2–10), a central text in Christian eschatology. It follows the iconographic tradition of the 'Maiestas Domini', emphasizing Christ as the eternal king and judge.
