The image shows the inside front cover and facing endpaper of a book. It features a traditional combed or nonpareil marbled paper pattern in shades of red, blue, yellow, and black. On the left side, a white rectangular bookplate is pasted onto the marbled surface. The bookplate features a central oval emblem depicting a pelican in her piety: a symbolic image of a mother bird feeding her young with blood from her breast, representing self-sacrifice. This is a common alchemical and Christological symbol. Below the pelican is a small heraldic shield with four red roses on a white field. Surrounding the oval is a circular inscription that translates to Hermetic Philosophy. In the top left corner of the bookplate, the letter E is printed.
EHERMETIC PHILOSOPHY original Latin: "PHILOSOPHIA HERMETICA"
