Tetragonismus idest circuli quadratura per Campanum archimedem Syracusanum atque boetium mathematicae perspicacissimos adinuenta
This text has not previously been translated into English.
The primary text of the 1503 'Tetragonismus' is the medieval treatise on the quadrature of the circle attributed to Campanus of Novara. This text was edited and printed by Lucas Gauricus in 1503. A complete English translation of this specific version of the quadrature (the 'Campanus version') was published by Marshall Clagett in 'Archimedes in the Middle Ages', Volume 1 (University of Wisconsin Press, 1964), pp. 581-609. Clagett provides both the Latin text (based on the 1503 edition and manuscripts) and a full English translation.

Unlock the secrets of a mathematical mystery once deemed unsolvable by Aristotle: the squaring of the circle. This Renaissance masterpiece synthesizes the genius of Campano da Novara and Archimedes to bridge the gap between curved and straight lines through elegant geometric proofs and ancient mechanical wisdom.
