suddenly misery shall come upon you.

27 I have given thee a tester among proved peoples, and thou shalt know me in my testing of their way,

28 All are disobedient, walking crookedly; bronze and iron, all are corrupt.

29 The bellows failed from the fire, the lead has failed; in vain the refiner refines, their wickedness has not melted away.

30 Call them reprobate silver, because the Lord has rejected them.

CHAP. 7. 7.

2 HEAR the word of the Lord, all Judah.

3 Thus saith the Lord the God of Israel: Amend your ways, and your practices, and I will dwell with you in this place.

4 Do not trust in yourselves upon lying words, because they will not profit you at all, saying, The temple of the Lord, the temple of the Lord is this.

5 For if you thoroughly amend your ways and your practices, and if you truly execute judgment between a man and his neighbor,

6 And do not oppress the stranger and the orphan and the widow, and do not shed innocent blood in this place, and do not go after strange gods to your hurt,

7 Then I will dwell with you in this place, in the land which I gave to your fathers from of old and forever.

8 But if you trust in lying words, from which you will not profit,

9 And you murder, and commit adultery, and steal, and swear falsely, and offer incense to Baal, and go after strange gods, whom you have not known,

10 To your own hurt, and then come and stand before me in the house which is called by my name, and say, We are delivered from doing all these abominations,

11 Is my house, which is called by my name, a den of robbers in your sight? And behold, I have seen it, saith the Lord.

12 For go to my place which was in Shiloh, where I caused my name to dwell there at the first, and see what I did to it because of the wickedness of my people Israel.

13 And now, because you have done all these works, and I spoke to you and you did not hear me, and I called you and you did not answer,

14 Therefore I will do to the house which is called by my name, upon which you have placed your trust, and to the place which I gave to you and to your fathers, as I did to Shiloh.

15 And I will cast you out from
