my face, as I cast out your brethren, all the seed of Ephraim.

16 And you, do not pray for this people, and do not ask for them to be pitied, and do not entreat, and do not approach me for them, for I will not listen.

17 Do you not see what they are doing in the cities of Judah, and in the ways of Jerusalem?

18 Their sons gather wood, and their fathers kindle fire, and their women knead dough, to make cakes for the host of heaven, and they have poured out drink offerings to strange gods, that they may provoke me to anger.

19 Do they provoke me, saith the Lord? Is it not themselves, to the confusion of their own faces?

20 Therefore thus saith the Lord, Behold my anger and my fury is poured out upon this place, and upon the men, and upon the cattle, and upon every tree of their field, and upon the produce of the ground, and it shall burn and shall not be quenched.

21 Thus saith the Lord, Gather your burnt offerings with your sacrifices, and eat the flesh.

22 For I did not speak to your fathers, and I did not command them in the day that I brought them out of the land of Egypt, concerning burnt offerings and sacrifices.

23 But this word I commanded them, saying,

Listen to my voice, and I will be your God, and you shall be my people, and walk in all the ways which I command you, that it may be well with you.

24 And they did not hear me, and their ear did not heed, but walked in the counsels of their own evil heart, and they became backward and not forward,

25 From the day that their fathers came out of the land of Egypt, and unto this day; and I sent to you all my servants, the prophets, daily and early, and I sent,

26 And they did not hear me, and their ear did not heed, and they stiffened their neck more than their fathers.

27, 28 And thou shalt say to them this word, This is the nation that did not hear the voice of the Lord, nor receive discipline, faith has failed from their mouth.

29 Cut off thy hair, and cast it away, and take up a lamentation on thy lips, because the Lord has rejected and cast off the generation that does these things.

30 For the sons of Judah have done evil before me, saith the Lord; they have set their abominations in the house, which is called by my name, to pollute it.

31 And they built the altar of Topheth, which is in the valley of the son of Hinnom, to burn...
