An ornate engraved bookplate for Harvard College features an elaborate frame. At the top, a stack of four books rests above the Seal of Harvard College. The seal is circular and inscribed with "Seal of Harvard College, Cambridge, New England, 1650" original: "SIGILL: COLL: HARVARD: CANTAB: NOV: ANGL: 1650". Inside the seal is a shield showing a chevron between three open books. The top two books bear the inscription "Christ" original: "CHRI" and "STO", while the bottom book is inscribed "for the Church" original: "ECCLESIAE". The seal is surrounded by baroque scrollwork, acanthus leaves, flowers, fruit, and a small globe on the left. A draped cloth creates a frame for the central text, with a cluster of grapes hanging from the base.
