THIS Book (which brings back to life that ancient Senator and Consul BOETHIUS,) does not so much need approval as it does praise; if in it Wisdom gives consolation to our spirit in adversity, the elevated style and elegant discourse with which it is enriched by this translation will give no less satisfaction in prosperity. I deem it most worthy of being published. This 2nd day of March, 1636.
I do not object on behalf of the King—given that the term of the privilege A "privilege" was a form of early copyright granted by the French crown, giving a specific printer the exclusive right to publish a work for a set number of years. granted for the printing of the book entitled The Consolations of Philosophy and Theology by Father DE CERIZIERS has expired—to the said book being printed and published by Jean Huguetan the younger, Merchant Bookseller in this City, with the prohibitions to? all others required in such cases. Done the twenty-second of August, one thousand six hundred and forty-seven.
