CHAPTER FORTY-FIFTH.

1. Then Joseph could no longer control his emotions in front of all those who stood by him; and he cried out, "Have every man leave me!" And no one else stayed with him while Joseph made himself known to his brothers.
2. And he wept so loudly that the Egyptians heard it, and the news reached the household of Pharaoh.
3. Joseph said to his brothers, "I am Joseph; is my father still alive?" But his brothers could not answer him, for they were terrified original: "in consternation" in his presence.
4. Then Joseph said to his brothers, "Please, come closer to me." And they came closer. He said, "I am Joseph your brother, whom you sold into Egypt.
5. Now, do not be distressed or angry with yourselves original: "neither let there be anger in your eyes" because you sold me here; for God sent me ahead of you to preserve life.
6. For these past two years, the famine has been in the land, and there are still five more years in which there will be neither plowing nor harvesting.
7. God sent me ahead of you to ensure you have descendants original: "a remnant" on the earth, and to save your lives by a great deliverance original: "escape".
