An elaborate woodcut printer's device or emblem. The central oval shows a salamander sitting in a fire. A banner above the creature contains the motto "THUS ENVY YIELDS TO VIRTUE" original: "SIC CEDIT INVIDIA VIRTVTI". The oval is enclosed in a highly decorative frame with scrolls and floral motifs, supported by two female caryatids who carry baskets of fruit on their heads. A small cherub's head sits at the top center, and a grotesque mask is featured at the bottom center.
