II.
Three woodcut anatomical studies of a female figure illustrate human proportions. On the left is a profile view of a woman facing right. Her body is marked with numerical values and fractions to show specific proportions. Her head is marked with 9, 1/14, and 1/15. Her torso and hips show 1/10 and 1/7. Her legs are marked with 1/12, 2/19, 1/20, and 1/22. A horizontal line at her feet is marked with the number 6. In the center is a separate drawing of an arm and hand from a side profile. It is annotated with vertical measurement lines and numbers including 11, 12, 20, 17, 4, 34, and 27. On the right is a frontal view of the same female figure. Proportions are indicated across her body. Fractions appear on the forehead (1/18, 1/19, 1/15, 1/16), face (10), neck (5), and torso (1/19, 1/10, 1/11). Her hips and lower body are marked with 1/8, 1/7, 1/15, and 1/16. Her legs and feet are annotated with numbers like 21, 23, 25, 14, 26, and 25. A horizontal line at the base of the feet is marked with the number 6. Small triangles and dashed lines act as reference points. The letters A I are printed at the base of both the profile and frontal figures.
Under the armpit, a 12th part.
In the elbow, a 20th part.
In front of the elbow, a 7th part.
By the hand, a 34th part.
And the hollow of the hand, a 27th part.
After this, I establish the widths of the parts of the woman seen from the front, at all points located along the vertical line.
I make the head, seen from the front, at the back vertebra of the head referring to the occipital bone at the base of the skull an 18th and 19th part wide.
Above the forehead, a 15th and 16th part.
Above the eyebrows, a 9th part.
Above the ears, an 8th part.
Above the nose, a 10th part.
The neck below the chin, a 12th part.
Above the shoulder blades, near the hollow of the neck suprasternal notch: the visible dip at the base of the throat, a 5th part.
And below that, the armpit joints stand two 11th parts wide from each other.
And I make the armpit joints above the breast four 15th parts wide.
Between the armpits, a 6th part.
Between the nipples, an 8th part.
Below the breasts, a 10th and an 11th part.
In the soft part of the belly the flank or waist, a 5th part.
Above the navel, a 4th part.
At the end of the hips, a 7th and 8th part.
On these lines, the joints of the hips stand two 11th parts wide from each other.
And the leg at the end of the pubic area original: "schaemte",
I make a 15th and 16th part wide.
Above the knee, two 21st parts.
In the middle of the knee, two 25th parts.
Below the knee, also two 25th parts.
In the middle of the calves original: "wapen", a 22nd and 24th part.
At the end of the calves, a 14th part.
The leg above the ankle joint...
