Rightly do I count among the number of these excellent men our very learned Author, who had already made himself known through that pleasant and useful work bearing the title of Spectacle de la Nature original: "Spectacle de la Nature," or "The Spectacle of Nature," a famous 18th-century work by Abbé Pluche on natural theology, the largest part of which has been published in our mother tongue under the name Theater of Nature original: "Schouwtoneel der Natuur", and is received by everyone with such acclaim that I need not say anything in praise of this present work, other than: the Author of the Theater of Nature is the Author of the History of the Heavens original: "Hemel-Geschiedenis". It is Mr. Pluche Noël-Antoine Pluche (1688–1761), a French priest known for his work in natural history and education.
