what was presented concerning the relationship of subjects toward their ru-
lers was essentially nothing other than what Rousseau
had preached about it in his Social
Contract Jean-Jacques Rousseau’s 1762 work, Du contrat social, which argued that political authority should be based on the "general will" of the people rather than the divine right of kings.. Just as the religious system of these secrets
had finished off the priests, who were considered deceivers,
so the political system did the same to the rulers,
who were called tyrants and oppressors.
Both were therefore characterized as the evil ones
against whom the Order fought, and whom
one had to make dispensable and cause to disap-
pear from the earth. The rules and moral
teachings of this Order correspond perfectly to its
remaining structure of doctrine. It is well known what
intrigues and abominations are charged
against the Order of the Jesuits The Society of Jesus, a Catholic religious order. In the 18th century, they were frequently the target of conspiracy theories and were suppressed by the Pope in 1773, shortly before Weishaupt founded the Illuminati.. From what source these re-
proaches and accusations mostly flowed is,
of course, now beginning to become quite well known;
meanwhile, Weishaupt claimed that he
had formed his Order after the model of the Jesuits.
Besides a completely blind obedience, which every
new member promised to the superiors and which went so far
that the neophyte A "neophyte" is a new convert or a beginner in a religious or secret order. granted the Order the power of life and
death original: "jus vitae et necis" over himself, the Order was a web of the
most shameful deceptions and tricks. Not only
in matters concerning the Order was every member—
to use the founder's own expression—
made into a spy for the others, but this ex-
tended much further, even to
