...remained still the same meager ar-
rangements they were at their foundation,
even though these were completely
appropriate for their age; and for that
very reason, I frankly confess, I am
glad not to be a follower of the Mosaic Mosaic law: the ancient religious laws of the Hebrews attributed to Moses nor
the Zoroastrian Zoroastrian law: the religious system of the ancient Persians based on the teachings of the prophet Zoroaster law, although I
do not fail to recognize the good
within their arrangements.

But who does not recognize the bene-
ficial nature of these arrangements in those times,
in contrast to contemporary Euro-
peans and all foreigners? To say no-
thing of the fact that these people drew their
wisdom primarily from the people of the East original: "Morgenländern," a historical term for the "Orientals" or peoples of the Near East.,
it almost seems that nations, the closer they
were to the origin and first dwelling place
of the human race, possessed a
correspondingly purer knowledge of God—
a knowledge which, with every degree of distance, also
