Hermetic Art: A traditional term for alchemy and the esoteric sciences, named after the legendary figure Hermes Trismegistus.
original: "Eyreneus Philoctetes." This is a pseudonym, likely Greek-inspired, meaning "peaceful lover of gain" or "peaceful lover of achievement," commonly used by alchemical authors of this period.
