We sincerely hope that we have, to some extent, fulfilled your father’s earnest wish that an accurate representation of his views on Nature should be presented to the English public.
Leonora and Joanna B. Horner were the daughters of Leonard Horner, a prominent Scottish geologist and educational reformer. They were part of a highly intellectual circle and translated Ørsted's work to bring his "Naturphilosophie" to the English-speaking world.
