Divided by six, nine, and two original: "dina-datta-tarkaih", representing 692, the quotient obtained is 152578. Place this 152578 separately; in one instance, divide it by six, zero, and ten original: "rasa-abhra-digbhih", representing 1006, which gives a quotient of 151. Adding one to this makes 152. Multiplied by thirty original: "kha-ramai", zero and three, it becomes 4560. Subtracting this from the separately placed 152578, the result is 148018. Divided by three hundred and sixty original: "abhra-rasa-agnibhih", zero, six, and three, the quotient is the elapsed years: 411. The elapsed years are placed in two positions, multiplied by two (2), four (4), and twelve (12) original: "tikshnakara", the sun, representing 12 respectively. When the result is divided by eight original: "gajaih", elephants, the quotient obtained, added to the years and combined with the weekday of the birth, etc., becomes the time of the solar return. || 9 ||
Now, the calculation of the weekday, etc., for the year. "By two, four..."—the meaning is clear.
For example, the elapsed years are 59. Place 59 in three positions: 59 | 59 | 59. Multiplied respectively by two (2), four (4), and twelve (12), and processed, it results in 122 | 7 | 48. Divided by eight, the quotient is 15 | 15 | 58. Adding the elapsed years 59 to the top, it becomes 74 | 15 | 58. Combined with the birth weekday, etc., 6 | 53 | 0, it becomes 81 | 8 | 58. Dividing the top by seven to find the day of the week, the remainder is 4 | 8 | 58 | 30. || 9 ||
The years placed in three positions are multiplied by five (5), two (2), and six (6) original: "vana-dharma-tarka" respectively. This, divided by four (4), gives the days and so on. This should be taken and added to one's own original weekday to find the entrance of the year or the start of the day. || 10 ||
The word "divamadikaṃ" in the second line of verse 10 is likely a scribal error for "divasadikaṃ" (days, etc.).
Again, another method for determining the weekday, etc.—"By five, two..."—For example:
