C. C. UHLENBECK,Christianus Cornelis Uhlenbeck (1866–1951) was a distinguished Dutch linguist and anthropologist. A professor at Leiden University, he was renowned for his wide-ranging expertise in Indo-European languages, the Basque language, and his extensive fieldwork with the Blackfoot people of North America. He was a mentor to the author, J. Ph. Vogel.
