A heraldic bookplate for Duquesne University. The central coat of arms features a shield divided horizontally: the top section depicts a haloed dove with outstretched wings, representing the Holy Spirit, and the bottom section depicts a rampant lion holding an open book. A ribbon scroll beneath the shield bears the Latin motto: "Spiritus Est Qui Vivificat" "It is the Spirit who gives life.".
