The Heavenly Arcana original: Arcana Coelestia. This is the title of Swedenborg's massive eight-volume work (published 1749–1756) which provides a verse-by-verse spiritual interpretation of the books of Genesis and Exodus. which have been unfolded in the Holy Scripture or Word of the Lord are contained in the Explication, which is the INTERNAL SENSE Swedenborg taught that the Bible contains a "hidden" spiritual meaning beneath the literal stories, which he called the internal sense. of the Word.

Continuation concerning the Grand Man original: Maximus Homo. A central concept in this theology suggesting that the whole of heaven is organized in the form and function of a single human being, with different groups of souls corresponding to different organs and senses. and Correspondence Swedenborg's doctrine of "correspondences" asserts that every physical thing in the world is a direct reflection or "echo" of a spiritual reality. therewith: the Senses in general (n. 4318 to 4331).
