...hence they possessed the truth of good original: "verum boni" — This refers to a state where a person understands what is true because they are already grounded in goodness.. But for those who belong to the spiritual church spiritual church: a state of being where a person is led toward goodness through their intellect and the study of truth, rather than through direct heart-instinct, goodness is rooted in the intellectual part intellectual part: the faculty of the mind that reasons, understands, and stores concepts by means of truth. This is because all truth belongs to the intellectual part; through truth, these individuals are led to goodness, and for them, "doing what is true" becomes their version of "good." Therefore, they possess the good of truth original: "bonum veri" — This is goodness achieved by following rules or truths one has learned, rather than acting from pure love.. This latter state is the proper way to describe those in the spiritual church, though they can also be said to have the "truth of good," which will be discussed more elsewhere.
5734. As much as they can carry. This signifies a state of sufficiency having exactly as much spiritual nourishment as their current state of mind can handle, which is clear without further explanation.
5735. And put every one's silver in his bag's mouth. This signifies that these things are provided along with truth anew in the exterior natural exterior natural: the outermost level of the mind that interacts with the physical world and basic sensory information. This is evident from the meaning of "silver" as truth (see n. 1551, 2954, 5658) and the "bag's mouth" as the threshold or entrance to the exterior natural mind (see n. 5497). It is called "truth anew" because silver had already been placed in their bags once before (Genesis 42:25, 27, 28, 35).
5736. And put my cup, the silver cup, in the bag's mouth of the youngest. This signifies that interior truth deeper, more spiritual understanding compared to basic factual truth is bestowed upon the intermediate intermediate: the psychological "bridge" (represented here by Benjamin) that connects the internal soul with the external mind.
