The Eleusinian and Bacchic Mysteries

A detailed horizontal line-drawing engraving depicting a classical religious procession. The scene features a large group of figures in ancient Greek or Roman dress. Some participants carry baskets of offerings (grapes, flowers) on their heads, while others play musical instruments including flutes and tambourines. A central feature is a herm—a stone pillar topped with a bearded male bust—representing Iacchos or Dionysus. On the right side, several figures are seated or reclining on the ground amidst ritual objects and foliage.
