Yi Yin personally farmed in the wilderness of Xin. His virtue reached the level of a supreme sage. King Tang sent envoys three times to invite him, and only after learning from him did Tang take him as a minister. Yi Yin once served the Xia dynasty, but because the ruler of Xia was wicked, he returned to Tang and persuaded him to overthrow Xia. Once Tang established his rule, Yi Yin served as his chief minister. After Tang passed away, his successor Taijia did not understand the importance of virtue, so he was moved to the Tong Palace for three years. He repented and corrected his ways. Yi Yin then brought the royal robes and headwear, returned the throne to him, and restored his status. Taijia cultivated his virtue, and the feudal lords returned to his support.
