Portrait of Zhao Zeping

Original Chinese: 趙則平像 (Zhao Zeping xiang). Zhao Zeping is the courtesy name of Zhao Pu, who lived from 922 to 992 CE. He served as a Grand Councilor and was a key advisor to the first two Song emperors.

A woodcut portrait depicts the Chinese official Zhao Zeping, also known as Zhao Pu. The figure is shown from the waist up, wearing a traditional Song dynasty official's cap, known as a futou (幞頭), which features long, thin horizontal wings. He wears a high collared robe and has a prominent beard and mustache. His hands are clasped together while holding a ceremonial hu (笏) tablet. This tablet was used by officials to record notes during imperial audiences. The portrait is enclosed within a simple rectangular border.
