This diagram illustrates the newly manufactured bronze crossbow trigger mechanism housed within its protective case. The design is a refined version of ancient models, intended to modernize traditional military technology.
This second diagram shows the same bronze crossbow trigger mechanism with the outer casing removed. This "exploded" or internal view reveals how the individual mechanical components—such as the trigger hook and the sear—interlock to function.
In this manual, we refer to several key components: the Crossbow original: nu (弩), which is the complete weapon; the Trigger Mechanism original: nuji (弩機), the internal bronze heart of the weapon; and the Bronze original: tong (銅) material from which it is cast. The components are housed within a Case original: xia (匣), often referred to in ancient texts as the "outer shell." This specific design is categorized under Newly Made Based on Ancient Designs original: gaigu xinzhi (改古新制), representing an evolution of military engineering for Attack and Defense original: gongshou (攻守) operations.
