The Mu Nü Wooden Woman is shaped like a nüqiang battlement or parapet. It is made of wooden boards, standing six feet high and five feet wide. Two wheels are attached to the bottom, and the axle is equipped with two wooden cranks. Whenever an enemy attacks the city and destroys the battlements, this Mu Nü Wooden Woman is used as a replacement.
This entry describes the "Wooden Woman," a mobile, human-sized defensive shield. It functions as a portable parapet that soldiers could wheel into position to provide cover for defenders when permanent masonry or wooden battlements were shattered during a siege.
