Military Records Treatise, Volume 129, Records of Military Materiel, Fire, Illustrated Explanations of Firearms (Part 7)
The handle is six feet long. The spearhead is about one foot long. There is an iron spike at the base of the wooden handle. Both sides of the fork are made into hooked blades. The clamped spear has two spray tubes. When using it, first ignite one tube; after the fuse turns, ignite the second tube. Once completed, it is used as a short weapon for parrying and blocking. This weapon, along with swords and spears, acts as an auxiliary to the Weiyuan Cannon Weiyuan pao a type of Ming dynasty defensive cannon. Because this spear has two spray tubes, it is called a Fire Spear Huochiang. The head is about one foot long; this is the spear. The two edges pointing upward form the sharp point; the two edges pointing downward form the hooks. A single instrument that serves four purposes is an effective weapon when held by someone with physical strength.
