If the sun has one Embrace and one Back-arc original: Bei (背); a solar arc that curves away from the sun, signifying opposition, this signifies a rout and a retreat. The Embrace represents Favorable Vapors original: Shunqi (順氣); atmospheric energy aligned with the observer's cause, while the Back-arc represents Contrary Vapors original: Niqi (逆氣); energy that opposes or rebels. When two armies face each other, the side with the favorable Embrace that strikes the side with the contrary Back-arc will be victorious. Thus, it is called a "rout and retreat."
If there is a black Embrace beside the sun, there will be victory in battle. If no army is currently deployed, it means there is a party desiring a peace treaty through marriage original: Heqin (和親); a strategic "peace and kinship" alliance where a princess was married to a foreign leader.
If the sun has both an Embrace and a Crown original: Dai (戴); an arc appearing directly on top of the sun like a cap, there will be cause for celebration. If there is an encircling ring a full circular halo, and the sun is in the center, the internal side wins; if the sun is outside the ring, the external side wins. If the ring is blue on the outside and red in the center, the parties will part in peace. If it is red on the outside and blue in the center, they will part in enmity.
If the sun has an Embrace, a Back-arc, and a Scepter-arc original: Qiong (璚); a rare, ornament-shaped solar phenomenon appearing together, then favorable and contrary influences are intermingled.
