Jungui a specific type of cinnamon is classified as a top-grade substance in the Benjing Classic of the Materia Medica. Mugui male cinnamon is also classified as a top-grade substance in the Bielu Supplementary Records, which further lists an additional entry for cinnamon. Mugui is the same as rougui cinnamon bark. Jungui is the same as jungui bamboo-like cinnamon, a name that became misspelled due to the shape of the character the character 箘 differs slightly from 菌. Today, the variety produced in Jiaozhi modern-day northern Vietnam is considered the best. Much of that from the Yao an ethnic group in southern China bamboo-tube regions of Hunan is not suitable for consumption. The seeds of the cinnamon tree resemble lotus seeds; they are green when young and black when mature.
