Kashf al-Maḥjūb (Persian Critical Edition)

Praise be to God who has unveiled the inner depths of His sovereignty to His friends, who has torn away the veils original: "سراير" (secrets/mysteries) of His majesty for His chosen ones, who has shed the blood of the lovers with the sword of His glory, and who has made the souls of those who yearn taste the spirit of His union. He is the One who revives the dead hearts with the lights of His perception and grants them ease through the breath of the spirit of Gnosis original: "المعرفة" by disseminating His names. And prayers be upon His messenger Muhammad, and upon his family, his companions, and his wives after him. The Sheikh Abū al-Ḥasan ʿAlī ibn ʿUthmān ibn Abī ʿAlī al-Jullābī, known as al-Hujwīrī—may God be pleased with him—says: I undertook the path of istikhārah seeking divine guidance, and I removed from my heart the purposes that return to the self. By your request—may God make you prosperous—I have stood up to this task, and I have made a firm resolve to complete your desire in this book. I have named this book Kashf al-Maḥjūb The Unveiling of the Hidden. Your purpose has become known, and the matter of your intention has been distributed throughout this book. I seek help from God Almighty and success in the completion of this book, and I disavow any power or strength of my own in speech or deed. And in God is the help and success.
