...because He created him for that. The Prophet—peace be upon him—said, "Everyone is facilitated for that for which he was created." God, Mighty and Majestic, has created each person for a task and has made the path to it easy for him. However, there are two types of veils: one is the veil of rayn rust/stain—we seek refuge in God from that—and this never lifts. The other is the veil of ghayn cloud/covering, and this lifts quickly. The explanation of this is that there is a servant whose very essence is a veil to the Truth, so that truth and falsehood are the same to him. And there is a servant whose attribute is a veil to the Truth, and his nature and inner self are constantly seeking the Truth and fleeing from falsehood. Thus, the essential veil, which is rayn, never lifts, and the meaning of rayn rust, khatm sealing, and tab' stamping is one. Just as God Almighty said: "No! Rather, a rust original: "رين" has covered their hearts because of what they used to earn." Then He made its decree manifest and said: "Indeed, those who disbelieved—it is all the same for them whether you warn them or do not warn them; they will not believe." Then He explained its cause: "God has set a seal original: "ختم" upon their hearts and upon their hearing." And He also said: "God has stamped original: "طبع" upon their hearts." As for the attributive veil, which is ghayn, it is possible for it to lift at one time or another, for the transformation of the essence is strange and wondrous in decree and impossible in ghayn, but the transformation of an attribute is permissible as it is. The masters have a subtle indication regarding this story in the meaning of rayn and ghayn, just as Junayd—may God have mercy on him—says: "Rayn is from the category of permanencies, and ghayn is from the category of passing thoughts." The permanent stays, and the passing thought is fleeting. Just as one cannot make a mirror from any stone, even if many polishers gathered; but when a mirror gathers rust, it is cleaned by a polisher, because the darkness is in the original stone, and the brightness is in the original mirror. The origin is permanent; that borrowed attribute has no survival. Therefore, I...
