he (understand God) loved the number seven above all things that are under heaven. I doubled this number, so I obtained 14 as the result original: "facit"; I counted the number out perhaps a hundred times, and did not know what was meant to be understood by it, until it finally occurred to me that original Hebrew: "זהב" Gold original: "Sahab" — a phonetic spelling of the Hebrew word 'Zahav'. In Gematria, the letters Zayin (7), He (5), and Bet (2) sum to 14 has the very same number. I sought further and found: if I make one out of this obtained number (namely 14) (understand: adding them together, or concentrating them), I obtain 5 as the result (as 4 and 1 is 5). I pondered this with great diligence, and it occurred to me: that the Fifth Essence original Latin: "Quinta Essentia" — the "quintessence," or the pure, celestial substance that permeates all nature, beyond the four physical elements was understood by it; and because the Sun original Latin: "Sol" — in alchemy, the Sun represents Gold carries a circle with a center point The alchemical symbol for the Sun/Gold is ☉ as its sign, this wise man [Solomon] has infallibly meant the circle (Gold) with the doubled number and the center (the Fifth Essence) with the concentrated or single number. Here I was indeed delighted, but I did not yet know what significance the single number 7 had.
And as I now went about quite deeply immersed in these thoughts, I encountered a Job, who was leading his daughter by the hand; he asked me the reason why I was so pensive? This dear old man replied to me: I likewise love this number, and have therefore (pointing to his daughter) [named] my dearest, most beautiful, and youngest daughter after
