The Harvard University coat of arms is centered within the frame. It features a shield containing three open books: the top left book is inscribed with "VE", the top right with "RI", and the bottom book with "TAS", forming the Latin word "Truth" original: "VERITAS". The shield is encircled by a circular laurel wreath.
