ROYAL PRIVILEGE.

BY the ample & special privilege of the King, granted to Master Jacques Besson, author of this present work, for the next ten years, beginning from the day that the printing of the work is finished: prohibitions are made to all persons, of whatever quality or condition they may be, not to make, counterfeit, engrave, sell, nor consent to the same: as much in the painting as in the construction of the inventions contained in this present work, without the permission of the said author. Upon the penalties contained & specified in the said privilege, given at Orleans, the twenty-seventh day of June, in the year one thousand five hundred sixty-nine.
