A circular engraved bookplate seal of Columbia University. The outer border contains the Latin inscription "SIGILLUM COLLEGII COLUMBIAE NOVI EBORACI" original: "SIGILLVM • COLLEGII • COLVMBIAE • NOVI • EBORACI •". In the center, a personification of Wisdom (Sapientia) sits on a throne, surrounded by children. Above her is a radiant sun containing the Hebrew Tetragrammaton (יהוה). Banners to the left and right bear the Latin motto "IN LUMINE TUO" original: "IN LVMINE TVO" and "VIDEBIMUS LUMEN" original: "VIDEBIMVS LVMEN". At the base of the throne is the citation "1 PET II 1 2" followed by "&c".
