I collated these manuscripts with Dillmann's Ethiopic text across more than three hundred passages. The result of this test was so favorable to the G and G¹ manuscripts that I made a complete collation of them and have included the bulk of their variants in my critical notes.
The superiority of the G manuscript to all others will be evident from the following seventeen passages. In these, I have adopted a different text than that of Dillmann, in accordance with the Ethiopic manuscripts supported by the independent testimony of the Greek of St. Jude 15, the Greek fragments of Enoch in George Syncellus, and the Greek fragment of Enoch published by Mai in original: "Patrum Nova Bibliotheca" (Latin); "New Library of the Fathers", vol. ii. These passages and the manuscripts supporting the readings I have adopted are—

For the evidence of the above manuscripts on these passages, see the critical notes in their respective locations. It will be remarked that G agrees fourteen times out of seventeen with the Greek, and M eleven times, K three times, E F H L N twice, and A D O once each. Hence, it would appear that the five manuscripts (A, B, C, D, E) upon which Dillmann’s text is founded—and to a somewhat lesser degree F, H, I, K, L, N, O—rest upon a recension recension: a revision of a text based on critical study of the sources that did not affect G at all, was probably subsequent to it, and only partially affected M.
