Seal of the Trustees of the Public Library of the City of Boston. The emblem features two nude male figures (ephebes) holding torches, flanking a central medallion containing an open book. The book is inscribed with 1852 and 1878. Above the figures is the motto "LIGHT OF ALL CITIZENS". The entire scene is encircled by a laurel wreath tied with a ribbon at the bottom.
