dense? Three: theta, phi, chi. How many middle? Three: beta, gamma, delta.

And beta is the middle of pi and phi; gamma is the middle of kappa and chi; delta is the middle of theta and tau.
What is a syllable? A union of at least two letters. Improperly, however, even one-letter syllables are spoken of, such as alpha, epsilon. Into how many parts is the syllable divided? Into three: into long, into short, and into common.
How is the long syllable spoken of? In two ways, either by nature or by position. By nature, whenever it has one of the long vowels, or a diphthong, or one of the two-time vowels extended. By position, whenever after the naturally short vowel in it, two consonants of any number are brought upon it, except for a mute before a liquid. Then it becomes common, since the same syllable can be long and short.
What is a word? The smallest significant part of speech according to syntax.
How many accents? Ten: acute ('), grave (`), circumflex (~), long (-), short (˘), rough breathing (῾), smooth breathing (᾿). Apostrophe ('), hyphen (‿), and the comma (,). Into how many are the ten accents divided? Into four: into tones, into lengths original: "χρόνους" meaning durations, into breathings, and into affections. How many tones? Three: acute, grave, and circumflex.
