Of nouns, some are declined isosyllabically, for example αἰνείας, αἰνείου. Others are declined perissosyllabically heteroclite/uneven-syllabled, for example αἴας, αἴαντος. Thus, let the one declension be called isosyllabic, and the other perissosyllabic.
The isosyllabic declensions are four, of which the first is in masculine nouns only, specifically those of certain nouns in -ας or -ης ending in -η, whose genitive ends in -ου, the dative in the final vowel of the nominative, and the accusative ends in -ν with the vowel of the nominative, which is common to all isosyllabic declensions.
