The gardener is already confidently uncovering the winter house
Of the lemons and oranges,
The blue sky rests above us,
And on the horizon, the snow
Of the distant mountains dissolves into soft fragrance.
Spring would be very welcome to me,
If it did not snatch my friend away.
In these lovely hours,
O Princess, do not remind me how soon I must depart.
What you may leave behind, you will find
Doubled in that great city.
Duty calls me, and love calls me
To my husband, who has missed me for so long.
I am bringing him his son, who has grown
So quickly this year, developed so quickly,
And I share his fatherly joy.
