Of all its accumulated treasures
Does not reach the level of Ferrara's jewels.
The people made that city a city;
Ferrara became great through its princes.

More through the good people who met here
By chance and united for good fortune.

Chance very easily scatters what it gathers.
A noble person attracts noble people,
And knows how to hold them fast, as you do.
Around your brother and yourself, minds are united
That are worthy of you,
