An ornate engraved bookplate (ex-libris) featuring a decorative cartouche. At the top, a putto sits reading a book amidst scientific instruments such as a globe and compass. The frame is supported by scrolls and contains two classical masks in its side panels. The base of the frame is decorated with a second globe, writing quills, an artist's palette, and a telescope. In the center of the base is the Aldine printer's mark: a dolphin wrapped around an anchor.
