A Renaissance woodcut title-border by Hans Holbein the Younger. In the upper corners, two tablets are inscribed with "HANS" (left) and "HOLB" (right). The border features an architectural structure adorned with several putti (cherubs) in various poses: some at the top blow long trumpets, others on the sides climb stylized pillars or hold spears. At the bottom center, two winged putti support a shield bearing a caduceus, which was the printer's mark of Johann Froben. Below this shield is a narrow horizontal frieze depicting a group of figures seated at a banquet table or in an assembly.
