The title page features an elaborate woodcut border in the Renaissance style. At the top, a central half-human, half-foliate figure (grotesque) emerges from acanthus scrolls, holding the tails of birds and flanked by lion-like heads. The vertical side borders incorporate grotesque masks and cornucopias. The bottom section depicts two winged putti or cherubs riding on sea monsters (hippocamps), flanking a central heraldic shield that displays a caduceus. The text is contained within a rectangular architectural frame.
