...even though, when my own was being printed, it was offered to me, I was barely able to read it in a hurried and cursory manner. It was useful, however, as I shall indicate in their respective places. It was not my intention to publish this work unless I had been driven to it by certain students of the Hebrew language, and especially by Hieronymus Frobenius, whom a certain singular love for that language, not profit, incites to propagate Hebrew literature. For I would truly be foolish if I were to bring my trifles into the public sphere of my own volition, especially in this age, in which nothing is valued unless it is polished to perfection. This matter deters many, even the most learned, from writing. Although, for me, the utility of others is, and always has been, of more value than the consideration of my own reputation. I do not avoid appearing inelegant, provided I am of use to many. Otherwise, I was going to publish a trilingual dictionary, just as I had promised in the previous year,
