Cities of the World

A hand-colored engraved panoramic view of the city of Gorinchem (Latin: Goricum) in Holland. The perspective is from across the river, with several sailing ships and smaller vessels in the foreground. On the near bank in the lower center, a lone figure is fishing with a rod. A wooden fence or pier structure runs along the shoreline. The city is protected by stone walls and towers, and the skyline is dominated by a large Gothic church with a tall, pointed spire.
