A hand-colored panoramic engraving of the city of Rotterdam as seen from the river Maas. In the upper center, a decorative cartouche contains the Latin title. The skyline is dominated by the large Gothic Sint-Laurenskerk (St. Lawrence Church) with its distinctive blue-roofed nave and square tower. Numerous smaller houses with gabled roofs crowd the waterfront. To the right, several windmills are visible on the city's ramparts and outskirts. The harbor is busy with various vessels, including large three-masted sailing ships, smaller fishing boats, and rowboats. In the lower right foreground, a woman carries a large jug on her head while a man holds a long staff. Heraldic coats of arms are visible on the far left and far right corners.
