The image shows a section of a screenfold codex. It contains four scenes in the upper row and four in the lower. All scenes depict figures exchanging or offering ritual objects, such as beaded necklaces and other ceremonial items. The figures are rendered in a distinct Mesoamerican pictorial style using vibrant red, green, and flesh-toned pigments. Rows of colored circular dots appear above each scene. These serve as calendrical or numerical markers.
