Take prepared common salt and common oil, and mix them well for a day; on the following morning, quench plates of copper in the same oil three times. Afterwards, [quench them] only twice in boy's urine and salt, and it will be well purified. But note: if the copper is poured into water of tartar after the tincture of the medicine, it will be well malleable and excellently colored.
There are seven Planets, and likewise the metals correspond to them, which receive their nature, just as they descend from them and obtain their names: as lead is Saturn, tin is Jupiter, iron is Mars, gold is the Sun, copper is Venus, quicksilver is Mercury, and silver is the Moon.
There are seven Magisters Magisteries which have more to do with the transformation of metals, and have the power to give color, whiteness, intensity, and fixation; these are: sal ammoniac; common salt, which is made from human blood and common salt, as above; rock salt, which is of a crystalline color and is made from alkali salt, common salt, and seawater as brine; as above, saltpetre, which is made from saltpetre and salt of Alebroth; as above, alkali salt, which is made from rock salt and well-ground glass, and glassmakers use this much for the fusion of glass, because it works effectively there; common salt, which is made from seawater, likewise salt water; and salt Alebroth, which is made from three juices of herbs, and that is a great magistery.
