3. For these Insecta insects are not generated in the ordinary way, but arise solely from the general seed brought to a certain degree of perfection through the power of the implanted light of heaven.

4. It does not hinder that the perfect animals also spring from the general seed, but that was ordered by the almighty hand of God in the beginning of creation. Afterwards, these animals received the power from God to multiply through their own seed, which they will keep until the end of the world. The divine blessing fits very well here: "Increase and multiply." For this word gave all perfect animals the power to multiply themselves.

5. It is therefore impossible that perfect animals, which are distinguished into male and female, should be brought forth solely from the power of the heavenly general seed. For this cannot happen in a natural way...
